Many times we have issues with routers, some of them are stopping working others need a restart from time to time, or even settings have to be applied again.
Reasons Router Can Stop Working
There can be many reasons when your router can stop working. First reason would be the incorrect settings, in this case you will not be able to have internet access.
Other reason would be software issues. Almost all routers get from time to time Firmware upgrades where the developers resolve different bugs and issues in router software, also you can receive new features.
What To Do When Router Stopped Working?
Even if all the settings are correct and the software is updated to the latest version, many routers can suddenly just stop working. This can be because of some errors in the firmware, or some cache things did not work properly, and many more.
The steps you should do are the following:
Step 1. Restart the router, if you have a modem from your ISP or another router, it too. Also we would recommend to restart your computer too.
Step 2. Unplug the network cable from your router and plug it back, same do at your computer.
Step 3. After a while, when you router or modem starts, you should notice the lights, make sure that the light that shows Internet icon will turn on. If the internet light is not turning on it means that your router or modem settings are not set correct.
Step 4. If you are an advanced PC user, you can login to your router and check that you have all settings fine and update the firmware.
Check if these steps resolved your problem. If the problem was not resolved your ISP should have a support line and they can help you. Make sure that you find their phone number from contract you have or from internet and give them a call.
