The new Samsung Galaxy S6 and his older brother the Samsung Galaxy S5 are great Android smartphones from Samsung. They come with amazing performance and reliability that meets the desire of the ever demanding smartphone owners. Let’s compare, the Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Galaxy S5. To be quite honest, they have clearly outdone themselves and established a strong authority in the market. However, these devices are not entirely similar, and therefore we compare the features each has to offer which have driven people to make choices when purchasing.
1. Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Galaxy S5: Design
We will start with the design. Samsung suffered a drop in sales when they released the S5 and the major let down was its design. The phone was feeling cheap in hands, and it had a plastic back that was a subject of jokes. The idea of spending hundreds of dollars on a smartphone that had fake chrome on the sides and plastic finishing at the back, making it look cheap was not something everyone fancied. Samsung were quick to realize the flaw, as they released the whole redesigned Galaxy S6, a complete change from the Samsung design tradition. The Galaxy S6 is not only made using expensive materials, it also uses a tough Gorilla glass, with aluminum edges.
2. Operating System
EaBoth Samsung smartphones use the Android operating system. The Galaxy S6 comes with the latest operating system from Android, the Lollipop 5.0 which can be upgraded to Android 6.0 (see new key features of Android 6.0) while the older galaxy S5 comes with android 4.4.2 which can be upgraded to Android 5.0.
Despite being of the same sizes, the Galaxy S6 has a 2K screen from that definitely is sharper and better in image quality than the 1080p screen of the Galaxy S5. The Galaxy S6 uses a super AMOLED display technology with 2560 x 1440 resolution while the S5 also uses super AMOLED display technology but has only a resolution of 1920 x 1080.
4. Battery Life
Well, one of most important things besides the display quality of course is the battery life. Despite both being powered by lithium ion batteries, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has a slightly higher capacity over the S6, which comes with 2550 mAh. In an endurance rating provided by gsmarena, the Samsung Galaxy S5 got 85 hours of endurance in comparison with Samsung Galaxy S6 that has got 73 hours of endurance.
With 3GB of RAM and 8 Cores, the Samsung Galaxy S6 runs Apps faster than the S5 despite being 0.4 GHz less than the 2.45GHz in the S5. The CPU is more optimized as well as the new Android 6.0.
And the last thing that we should pay attention is the storage. The Galaxy S6 base model comes with an internal storage of 32 GB (expandable to 64 & 128 GB), which is a double over the Samsung Galaxy S5, which has only 16 GB (expandable to 32 GB).
From this comparison, it’s clear that the Samsung Galaxy S6 is a massive improvement to the Samsung Galaxy S5. Also you cannot say that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is much worse that the Samsung Galaxy S6. You can easy play same games and do same task, these are just some paper statistics. You can either choose a new designed S6 which looks glamorous and you have chance to break the glass on the front or on the back, or you can choose the not so glamorous S5 that its more practical. That was our small comparison on Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Galaxy S5.
