Ubuntu Touch looks to be supported by following devices:
- Nexus 4
- Nexus 10
- Nexus 7 2013 WiFi
- Galaxy Nexus
- Nexus 7
You can find the exact information about installing Ubuntu on these devices, information is available on official Ubuntu web page: https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/start/ubuntu-for-devices/devices/
Flashing Ubuntu Touch Developer Preview will provide the basic feature of a phone and will not replace your handset currently running on other Operating System. The process of flashing your device with Ubuntu Touch will have to delete all data from the device and restoring will not restore your data, so backup your phone before doing anything. After flashing your device you will have basic applications, connection to GSM, phone calls, WiFi, Camera and possibility to restore your device back to Android. Be careful and read instructions.
The Developer Preview version of Ubuntu comes with following apps preinstalled:
- Phone ( includes Dialer, SMS, Address Book)
- Media Player
- Music app
- Weather app
Installing Applications on Ubuntu touch currently is not as easy, but instead if you are a developer you can use Ubuntu SDK Alpha to install and execute applications on your device from a computer running Qt Creator. All the work for Ubuntu is currently in progress and any enthusiasts can contribute to develop, test or build the Ubuntu Touch platform.
