LG G4 All Models

It was really hard to find a working Root for my LG G4 H818N Dual SIM. All roots guides on the internet are really complicated and you have big chances to brick your phone.

In this guide I will teach you how to root your LG G4 All Models and Dual SIM Models! except Verizon! Please read carefully each step and make sure that all download links are working, so you will not stop at any step because of a not working link.

Make sure that you know your phone exact model and the the steps and all files you download are for your phone! If something is wrong, your phone will be bricked forever! We do not take any responsibility for your bricked device! Good Luck!

Before starting to Root Lg G4, please ensure that you have proper drivers installed, connect your phone, then download and install the proper driver below.

Download Drivers

Step 1. On your LG G4 go to settings > Security > Encryption. Make sure that Encryption is TURNED OFF! If you have never encrypted your phone before, anyway check it please!

Step 2. Go to Settings > About Phone > Software Information and tap several times on build number until you are presented with “You are now a developer” or “No need, you are already a developer“. Go back to settings Developer options and enable USB Debugging.

Step 3. Download the exact system .IMG file for your phone model number and software version!

To check your phone model number go to settings > About Phone > Hardware info and check Model number.

To check your software version go to settings > About Phone > Software info and check Software version.

Step 4. Now extract from zip the file you downloaded for example: “examplerootedsystemfile.img” copy it in C:\g4 and also copy the same file to the root of your phone’s internal memory with MTP mode.

Step 5. If you are done copying it, POWER OFF your phone normally and disconnect from USB. Then hold the UP VOLUME key and re-insert the USB cable from your PC to your phone.

If you have done correctly, you should see DOWNLOAD MODE in small font in middle of the screen, after some seconds it will display another screen with a status bar at 0%.

Step 6. Now we have to verify the COM port your phone is connected to.

Download LG Root Tools, and extract the files to C:\g4

From C:\g4 folder double click the file “ports.bat” and look for the COM number that is in line with “DIAG1“. Now Remember this COM Port number! In my case it was COM4 as an example I will work with it, you will have to use your COM number!

Step 7. On your windows PC, Start a command prompt (Start > Run > cmd) and navigate to the unzipped contents folder C:\g4 using the command: cd c:\g4

Then use the following command: Send_Command.exe \\.\COM4

Step 8. If your COM port was correct you should see Author: blog.lvu.kr and SPECIAL COMMAND : ENTER, LEAVE followed by a hashtag (#). Now type  If you are up to this point, type id and press ENTER.

Step 9. After pressing enter you should see something like “uid=(0)root gid=(0)root“. If not, press CTRL-C, and repeat Step 7 again as the application sometimes doesn’t respond on the command.

If it worked for you run the command below for your model! You can use copy-paste!

International H815 10c Version (NOT H815T, H815TR, H815P, etc):
dd if=/data/media/0/examplerootedsystemfile.img bs=8192 seek=55296 count=529920 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0

LG G4 Verizon VZW VS986 11A Version:

LG G4 T-Mobile:
dd if=/data/media/0/examplerootedsystemfile.img bs=8192 seek=55296 count=529920 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0

LG G4 Sprint:
dd if=/data/media/0/examplerootedsystemfile.img bs=8192 seek=65536 count=557312 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0

If you’ve done this correctly, as soon as you’ve pressed ENTER, you will see in CMD terminal a blinking cursor, you have to wait for a few minutes till you will see a ( # ). When you will see the # type LEAVE and press ENTER. Your phone will restart…

Now to check if your deviceis rooted. Go to Google Play Store, and Download SuperSU app and install it. Then download and install the Root Checker app and run it, and tap Verify Root, at this moment you will have to Grant root access to it with SuperSU, see the following screenshot:

SuperSU Root CheckerAfter you will grant root access to Root Checker app, the check result should say: Congratulations! Root access is properly installed on this device!

That’s All!
